Sports Trivia (Flying disc)
65th Festival of Sport (FOS) – Hong Kong Ultimate Frisbee Open will be held on 20 August and 21 August (Saturday to Sunday) at Tai Hang Tung Recreation Ground. Do you know about the defending rules in a flying disc competition?
There are two ways for the defending team to gain the attacking opportunity. First of all, the competition rule has clearly stated that players cannot hold the frisbee for over 10 seconds. If a player violates the rule, the offending team will lose the attacking chance. As there is no referee in a flying disc competition, players must be respectful and monitor their opponents. The player who is the closest to the flying disc must defend without any physical touch and count down from one to ten loudly. Another way is to stop their opponents to pass the frisbee to their teammates. If the defending player catches and hits the frisbee during the pass, his/her team can attack after the frisbee lands.
